Community Profile

This is a community for digging up and archiving (via the Wayback Machine and/or entries in this community) old xxxHolic fanfiction that has not been archived elsewhere. The purpose of this is to make older fic known and available to future generations of fans, who may not be adept at navigating older sites or know how and where to look for older fic.

That does mean that some of the fic presented here may not be suitable for minors. I'm not interested in vetting every fic for people, just in archiving it, so if you are under eighteen, I suggest you either use discretion when reading, or find another community until you're old enough. I am not your mother and it is your responsibility to curate your internet reading.

xxxHolic as a fandom is very multi-lingual, and fics in all languages are welcomed to be archived here. I'm monolingual in English, so I will be focusing on fics I can read, but every language is welcome as long as the fic is a) a xxxHolic fic, b) not on AO3, and c) tagged properly, such as "lang: english."

Third little note: THIS IS NOT A RECS COMMUNITY. Which doesn't mean you can't point out a good read if you've found it, just that the primary purpose of the community is not to rec only good fic, but to archive fic, regardless of how good or bad it is.

Authors, if your fic is displayed here and you don't want it posted about or archived via the Wayback Machine, PLEASE email me/PM me and let me know! I will keep a list of people who do not want their old fic archived or posted about, for whatever reason, in a public space. If you don't want your work posted here, we will of course take the post down.

As a note: There are some authors that have friends-locked their fic. I'm going to take the stand of NOT posting f-locked fic without permission from the author. I realize there might be extenuating circumstances on occasion, but I feel that every effort should be made to contact an author in this situation. Posting f-locked fic is rather a violation of trust, and it will not be allowed here.

Guidelines: Be nice to each other. Don't be jerks about pairings or characters.

As a corollary to the above: because this isn't a recs community, fic may be posted here that is not "good" by a lot of subjective (or perhaps objective) standards. Regardless, bashing or making fun of a fic or fic author is not allowed in this comm. If you're fussed about something in a fic, please take it to your own journal. Pointing out (politely!) that a fic has spelling errors, or telling someone in the comments that something is in the fic (content warnings, OOC, etc) is fine, but this is not a place to make fun of people for their writing--especially not when that writing can be fifteen years old, and the authors may have grown as both people and as writers in that time.

It should go without saying, but I'll say it anyway: don't contact the authors to flame them. If you choose to comment, please do so responsibly.

As maintainer of this community, I take respecting the authors/fellow fans very seriously. Please remember to be kind.

All fic is welcome here, as long as it is not already uploaded to AO3, so double-check there first before posting to this community. Use the Search Works function.

Please tag your entries with the pairing, author, and where the fic was found, such as an LJ community (lj: doumekiwatanuki) or a website (website: individual archive) and language (lang: english).
